New grant !

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a $2M CIHR grant in partnership with the Fonds de recherche en santé du Québec and Research New Brunswick as part of the Transforming Health with Integrated Care (THINC) initiative!

The project is entitled “PriCARE Integration – Case management in primary healthcare for people with complex healthcare needs to improve integrated care: a large-scale implementation study” and aims to scale up case management in primary healthcare for people with complex needs and generate new evidence to inform policies and healthcare system transformation towards more integrated care, to positively impact many Canadians.

Dr Catherine Hudon will lead the study with Maud-Christine Chouinard, Shelley Doucet and Helena Piccinini-Vallis, supported by knowledge users Kimberly Fairman, Philippe Lachance, Tara Sampalli, Greg Sargent, Joanna Zed and patient partners René Benoît, André Gaudreau, Donna Rubenstein, Linda Wilhelm and Audrey-Lise Rock-Hervieux.

Postdoctoral fellowship offer – Fall 2023

The V1sages research team announces the opening of a competition for a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship (with the possibility of renewal). This internship will be carried out under the supervision of Dr Catherine Hudon, professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke, and Pre Maud-Christine Chouinard, professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal.

This fellowship is open to all researchers wishing to pursue postdoctoral research on the implementation of a case management approach for patients with complex health needs and at risk of high health and social service utilization. Particular attention will be paid to those with experience of mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) and patient partnership.

You have until October 1st 2023 to send in your application.

Dr. Catherine Hudon of V1SAGES recently won the André-Dupont 2022 award from the Club de Recherches Cliniques du Québec (CRCQ).

This award is given annually to a young researcher with no more than 10 years of experience as an independent researcher for excellence in the field of biomedical research.

This article by Alya Danish, Marlene Karam, Judy Porter, Donna Rubenstein, Véronique Sabourin, Mike Warren and Catherine Hudon describes how the PriCare group (of which V1sages is a member) is integrating patient engagement into its program governance structure. Guided by CIHR’s PARS patient engagement framework, and in order to involve patients in the planning stages of a research project, PriCare uses a program logic perspective based on resources, processes and relationships.

Congratulations to the Can-ADAPT COVID team !

On July 7th 2022, Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced a $10M investment from CIHR and Healthy Canadians to support a pan-Canadian research team, led by Dr. Andrew Pinto at Unity Health Toronto.

Congratulations to the Can-ADAPT COVID project team, in which Dr. Catherine Hudon of V1SAGES is a co-investigator, for obtaining this important grant!

The research team will study the effectiveness of Paxlovid and other outpatient medications for COVID-19 and provide key insights into whether the treatments prevent hospitalization and long Covid.

On this day, we would like to highlight the remarkable career of Dr. Catherine Hudon and Prof. Maud-Christine Chouinard, both of whom are internationally recognized for their incredible work to improve the care trajectories of people with complex needs and the efficiency of the health care system.

For several years, Catherine and Maud-Christine have been developing an innovative approach to primary care for decision makers, managers, clinicians and research teams.

The V1SAGES approach aims to provide safe, continuous, accessible, comprehensive and sustainable care to people with complex health needs: physical health problems, mental health problems and/or socio-economic insecurity.
